Ingredients
1 | About 1 cup of Urad dal. |
2 | It’s 1 cup of Idli rava. |
3 | It’s 1/2 cup of carrots. |
4 | Prepare 1/2 cup of capsicum. |
5 | Approximately 1 tsp of Mustard seeds. |
6 | You need 1 tsp of Oil. |
7 | Prepare as required of Water. |
8 | Approximately as per taste of Salt. |
Cooking Step by Step
Step 1 | First of all, soak urad dal for 4-5 hours in a large bowl.. |
Step 2 | Drain off the water and transfer to blender or grinder and blend to smooth batter adding water as required.. |
Step 3 | Transfer the batter into a large bowl and keep aside.. |
Step 4 | Take another bowl and add 2 cups idli rava.. |
Step 5 | Rinse the idli rava with water and drain off the water.. |
Step 6 | Squeeze off the water from idli rava and add to prepared dal batter.. |
Step 7 | Mix well making so that rava and urad dal are combined well.. |
Step 8 | Now cover and rest in warm place for 8-10 hours or till the batter gets fermented and doubles.. |
Step 9 | Approximately after 7- 8 hours, batter doubles indicating well fermented with air pockets present in it.. |
Step 10 | Now in a tadka pan add 1 tbsp oil, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, chopped carrots, capsicum and salt. Cook for a minute by maintaining crunch in veggies.. |
Step 11 | Pour the tadka in idli batter.. |
Step 12 | Pour the batter into idli moulds greased with oil.. |
Step 13 | Place in steamer and steam for 10 minutes on medium flame or till a toothpick inserted comes out clean.. |
Step 14 | Yummy, soft idlis are ready to serve along with chutney and sambar.. |
