These mawa gujiya are the perfect festive treat, the addition of coconut makes them so special! Gujiya, also known as Karanji in the western part of India and sometimes referred to as Indian sweet dumplings, is generally prepared on the festive season of Holi and Diwali. We always prepare Gujiya in the traditional way, but this time let us try something different and make this Inside Out Chocolate. You can simply prepare Gujiya – The traditional way in 10 ingredients and 18 steps. Here is cooking guidance how you can easily cook that.

Ingredients

1 About 2 cups of maida.
2 Take 3/4 cup of Ghee for moyan.
3 Approximately 1 cup of or as required Lukewarm water to knead the dough.
4 Take as required of Oil or ghee for frying.
5 Take For of Stuffing:.
6 It’s 150 gms of khoya.
7 Prepare 1.5 cup of dessicated coconut.
8 Approximately 1 cup of chopped nuts.
9 Prepare 1/2 tbsp of cardomom powder.
10 It’s 1 cup of boora /powdered sugar.

About Semolina Gujiya Recipe: A traditional Andhra sweet prepared by making thin puris with balls of maida dough and filling them with a mixture of Holi is right round the corner, and what better way to start the celebrations than make delicious gujiyas at home? A gujiya (Hindi: गुजिया) or a perakiya (Hindi: पेड़कीया) is a sweet deep-fried dumpling, native to the Indian subcontinent, made with suji (semolina) or maida (all purpose flour). Gujiya is a popular treat during the festivals of Diwali and Holi. Yes, there are so many names for this special treat.

Cooking Guidances

Step 1 Add in ghee to the maida little by little for moyan..
Step 2 Take some dough in fist and press in if it binds well the moyan is enough..
Step 3 Now add water little by little to form a stiff yet smooth dough..
Step 4 Cover it with damp cloth and set aside..
Step 5 Cut the coconut into pieces..
Step 6 Grind them..
Step 7 Mix in the khoya, boora, cardomom powder and nuts in it..
Step 8 Now as i have made gujiyas the traditional way it is an important step. We need a slurry of maida and water. Just mix 2 tblspn of maida in water to make a paste as shown in pic. Keep aside.
Step 9 Take some cotton and a toothpick roll the cotton on it as shown..
Step 10 Now roll the dough balls like pooris..
Step 11 Using cotton swab, apply slurry on it..
Step 12 Add the khoya coconut mixture in the center..
Step 13 Seal it from the core forming a crescent shape..
Step 14 Now comes the twist. as we are not using mould I have pinched the lower edge folding it upwards sealing the gujiya. Be careful it shall be sealed properly else gujiya might get cracked up while frying..
Step 15 Make all the gujiyas the same way. You can use the mould too to shape them..
Step 16 Fry them in medium hot oil or ghee on medium flame..
Step 17 Until golden brown and crisp.
Step 18 Strain out and let them cool completely. Store in an airtight container. Stays good upto one week. They wont remain till then though ;).
