2 | It’s 1/2 cup of toor daal. |
3 | It’s 1 of lemon size deseeded tamarind. |
4 | You need 3/4 cup of warm water. |

6 | It’s 2 tbsp of sambar powder. |
7 | Take 2 tsp of garam masala. |
8 | Take 2 tablespoons of oil. |
9 | You need 2 tablespoons of ghee. |
10 | It’s 3-4 of chopped curry leaves. |
11 | Take 1 tsp of mustard seeds. |
12 | Take 1/4 cup of groundnut. |
13 | About 1/4 cup of green peas. |
14 | It’s 1/4 cup of carrots. |
15 | About 1/4 cup of chopped cashews. |
16 | Prepare of Garam masala powder. |
17 | You need 2 of cloves. |
18 | About 4-5 of black pepper corns. |

Cooking Step by Step
Step 1 | Dry roast the ingredients in garam masala section for 2-3 minutes. Cool and grind to powder. You can sieve and store this masala or use as it is.. |
Step 2 | Soak tamarind in warm water. Take out the pulp and keep aside.. |
Step 3 | I have a sambar powder recipe in my collection. Can check that if you wish to prepare your own sambar powder.. |
Step 4 | Clean and wash rice and set aside. Wash and soak toor dal in a bowl separately.. |
Step 5 | Heat oil and ghee in a pressure cooker. Fry cashews and groundnut in it, strain and remove in a cup.. |
Step 6 | Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, carrot, green peas and fry for few minutes. Add garam masala powder, sambar powder. Immediately add rice and dal.. |
Step 7 | Add salt and tamarind pulp and cook for 3-4 minutes. Add water. Close the lid to pressure cooker and take 3-4 whistles.. |
Step 8 | Garnish with fried cashews and groundnuts.. |
