Easy Delicious Zobo drink(hibiscus) definitely is one of my favorite nigerian food. I always use this special recipe to serve Zobo drink(hibiscus). Zobo is a Nigerian drink which is more popular in the northern parts of the country with the Hausa. Hibiscus Tea (Zobo Drink) is a very popular beverage throughout the world and is often used as a Hibiscus tea also known as Zobo drink in Nigeria is ruby red in colour and has a sour taste. The Zobo drink, also known as Hibiscus tea is one of the world most popular beverages and it originated from Nigeria.

This zobo drink recipe is quick and requires just few ingredients. For Pressure cooker Zobo drink click. Zobo drink is the original name from Nigeria, West Africa. You can simply cook Zobo drink(hibiscus) by following 6 ingredients and just 6 steps. Here is cooking guidance how you can easily cook it.

Ingredients

1 Take 6 cups of zobo leave.
2 You need 1 of big whole pineapple.
3 You need of Pineapple peels (the skin of the pineapple).
4 Prepare 10-15 cups of water enough that would cover the zobo leaves.
5 Prepare 5 of tablespoonful Ginger (Grated or chopped Ginger).
6 Prepare of Sugar or any sweetener of choice (to taste) (optional).

The basic essence of this drink is (dry) Roselle leaves or popularly known also as Hibiscus Sabdariffa leaves coming from a species of. Zobo is made from the the dried calyces (sepal) of the hibiscus plant flower. Zobo leaves are also called; sorrel, flor de Jamaica and rosemallow. Although the drink is known by different names all.

Cooking Guidances

Step 1 Rinse the Zobo leaves in sufficient water and set aside.  Wash the unpeeled pineapple thoroughly,peel of the skin cut into chunks and set aside.
Step 2 Place the washed zobo leaves into a pot, add the water, the pineapple chunks and skin, the grated ginger, cloves and any other ingredients you'll like to add.   Cover the pot and let the Zobo leaves boil on medium heat for 30 minutes.    Turn of the heat and leave the pot covered, so that the ingredients can steep a little longer in the hot water and also cool down completely.
Step 3 When the drink cools down,  pour the Zobo leaves and all the contents of the pot through a sieve and into a clean container. note* you can use a clean handkerchief in that regards..
Step 4 Then add sugar, honey or any sweetener of choice to the strained Zobo drink.  then refrigerate or can drink it right away, topped up with some iced cubes OR  If you'll rather store it for later, pour into an airtight container and chill in the fridge.  Zobo drink stays for up to a week or more in the fridge..
Step 5 Your Zobo drink can be served with any Nigerian snack like Meat pie, Buns, or any meal of choice. As seen in the picture above I served mine with puff puff😉.
Step 6 This can be added to make the zobo         OR 1 apple,         OR 1 teaspoon alligator pepper,          Or banana or cinnamon while boiling the zobo.
